CarillionAmey - Helping to make a difference to SFA

Helping to make a difference to Service Family Homes

Improving homes is a great job because it helps to make lives better. Our project teams at CarillionAmey are responsible for running improvement projects as and when DIO give us the green light to start a project and when MOD funding is made available. The projects run throughout the Government’s financial year which runs from 31st March to 1st April.
Project work is very satisfying, the teams really enjoy what they do because it involves making Service homes better, modernising them and helping to make them more energy efficient. Project work means our teams often spend a lot of time with the families and unit personnel which helps them to understand what Service families’ lives are like and why what they do is so important.

A recent project which serves as a good example took place at Bovington Camp in Dorset and was completed in April. Fifty houses have been transformed from tired and outdated homes into smart and modern places to live with new external wall insulation, replacement windows and doors and new boilers.
Marcus Howlett, CarillionAmey’s Regional Contracts Manager in the South West, invited the Command, along with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and welfare personnel to view the newly refurbished houses all of whom were very pleased with the improvements that have been made.
Marcus said “We take great pride in helping to provide Service families with better and brighter places to live. It’s great knowing we are making a difference.”

Lt Col Andy Alford added “Please pass on my thanks for all the hard

work to both CarillionAmey and DIO for transforming the estate”

We understand that it’s not easy for families having project work done when they are living in their property, but the end results tend to outweigh the short term pain. This past financial year has seen a number of major projects take place throughout the country, here are the facts and figures:
